American Literature

Creating and teaching an arts-integrated Language Arts is something of a dream for Kate.   This is her first year at KCAA and she is thrilled.  Kate grew up in Chicago and stayed in the “greater midwest” for her education.  She graduated from St. Olaf college with a BA in studio art and art history, and during that time studied abroad extensively.  She graduated from the University of Minnesota with a masters degree in art education.  Upon graduation from the U of M, Kate taught English in Korea, art in her hometown, and has now started her second year in DPS.  Kate has an obnoxious, but handsome, orange cat named Maus.

Contemporary Literature

This is my first year at CAA, having spent the last decade teaching in Jefferson County.  I graduated from Wabash College with a degree in English before obtaining my Master's of Arts in Teaching from National Louis University. Upon graduating from NLU my wife and I moved from Chicago to Colorado and have been here since.  My wife, Benita Cervantes, is also a teacher here at CAA and our daughter, Charlotte, attends school here as well!
