                                        http://mrssandschaper.weebly.com/  I discovered

my love for teaching after a life-changing

volunteer experience in Rio de Janiero, Brazil.

Teaching Art and English in a Rio favela opened

my eyes to the importance of education as a way of empowering people. After returning to the US, I spent my first couple of years as a Special Education teacher before becoming a Visual Arts teacher in 2008. I love creating learning experiences for young artists as they develop artistic habits and thought processes. I am so excited to work with the creative young artists of KCAA to help them discover their own unique artistic voices! As a practicing artist myself, I completed an MA in Art Education from the University of Northern Colorado in 2013 after earning a BFA in Art History from the University of Oklahoma in 2004. I am a member of the Artwork Network, a popular gallery in Denver's Art District on Santa Fe, and have current paintings at an eclectic gallery space in Loveland, called Rabbask Designs.
