Middle School 2D Visual Arts
http://mrssandschaper.weebly.com/ I discovered
my love for teaching after a life-changing
volunteer experience in Rio de Janiero, Brazil.
Teaching Art and English in a Rio favela opened
my eyes to the importance of education as a way of empowering people. After returning to the US, I spent my first couple of years as a Special Education teacher before becoming a Visual Arts teacher in 2008. I love creating learning experiences for young artists as they develop artistic habits and thought processes. I am so excited to work with the creative young artists of KCAA to help them discover their own unique artistic voices! To keep up with current events in Mrs. Sandschaper's class, visit our classroom website at http://mrssandschaper.weebly.com/.
As a practicing artist myself, I completed an MA in Art Education from the University of Northern Colorado in 2013 after earning a BFA in Art History from the University of Oklahoma in 2004. I am a member of the Artwork Network, a popular gallery in Denver's Art District on Santa Fe, and have current paintings at an eclectic gallery space in Loveland, called Rabbask Designs. For more information about my art, you may view my professional website at www.NikkiSandschaper.com.
